Frequently asked questions

All breads and most of our pastries are baked and ready by the time we open (7:30am midweek or 8am on weekends). We would advise arriving as early as you can to find the best availability & variety.
Brioche buns (Cardamon, cinnamon, babka etc.) come out at 8:30/9 and sandwiches are freshly made for 12pm so please plan accordingly if you are wanting these items specifically.
We can’t predict exactly how quickly the counter will empty on any given day but please know we are doing our best to make as much food as possible while maintaining our high standards.

We do not currently offer wholesale bread or pastries.
-
Yes, we have a bread slicer which cuts at 16mm thickness – the right thickness for a generous slice of toast in our opinion! The only breads we are not able to slice are the rye breads or loaves that are still hot from the oven.

We love dogs and they are allowed in the shop and café area if they are on a lead.

As a small independent business, we do not have a pre-order platform. However, if you are looking to collect a specific selection of pastries for a special occasion we may be able to help – please email us with the date and quantity on hello@august-bakery.com.
-
We do not have capacity to make birthday cakes at present, but we can offer full loaf cakes of cakes on our menu. Please ask for more information as our cake menu does change regularly.
-
Given the small size of our kitchen, we are not able to produce gluten free products as there is a lot of flour and potential for contamination. We do, however, make flourless biscuits (ricciarelli) using ground nuts instead of wheat flour. We also occasionally make flourless cakes on weekends.
We have at least one vegan bake on the menu per day.
Our kitchen handles and prepares foods containing all of the major allergens. While we have procedures in place to minimise cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that any product is completely allergen-free due to the nature of our small open kitchen. For detailed information on specific items, please request an ingredient list from our FOH team or contact us via email. We advise customers to inform us of any severe allergies before ordering.

There is a ramp at the bakery entrance.

Yes, we have a seating area with space for ~25 guests and also some tables outside on Eccles Road. We do not take reservations for our seating area.
If you would like to sit in, please order at the bar and let us know you’re eating in. There is no table service, but we do deliver drinks.
-
We do allow laptops but ask customers to be mindful of other customers who may be waiting on tables when the seating area is in high demand. We have a soft limit of 1 hour for laptops and do not have a customer wifi.
